Hi I'm trying to install new steering components on my 1988 Camaro Iroc Z. I was looking at the parts that I ordered and looking at my Idler arm on my car is position different then the new one. Is the position on the new Idler arm fixed or can the two bolt side be turned to match my original?

Don't know that it was ever "broken".

Imagine looking at it from the side, with the shaft pointing straight up and the arm pointing to one side. Imagine drawing a right angle with one line through the shaft, and the other, intersecting it at 90°, going through the joint where it fits into the center link. Imagine measuring from the bolt holes to the line going out to the center link, and from the center link joint to the line through the shaft. As long as those measurements are the same, then the arm is the same. The "drop" of the arm and the "length" of the shaft can be ANYTHING as long as those geometric relationships are the same.

I tried to turn the bracket with the 2 holes to match/be facing the same direction as the existing one thats on my car but it won't turn by hand. Does anyone know if it's supposed to turn freely, put on a vise and turn it?

Thanks in advance guys.

Front end parts are always REAL TIGHT when they're new. Compared to turning by hand, that is. Butt to the steering system it's hardly noticeable at all.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Use some vise-grips or a Crescent or something, like maybe even a vise, to turn it to where you can install it, it'll be fine.
