Call me crazy, but I honestly think the 305/350 tbi motors that are untouched except for exhaust sound great. Better than most SBC's! They really have a sinister exhaust note. I'm planning on building a 350 tbi motor, but I'm affraid once I start messing with the cam and heads it won't have that sound. What is it exactly that gives them that grumble? The swirlport heads? The little cam?

I guess it would be the non-symmetrical 90 degree V-8 firing order, compared to the four- or six-poppers you're used to.
