I just got a non A/C heater box out of the junkyard, came from an S10. I had to cut away some of the flange and bang the backside of my fenderwell in just to get the thing in there, and now i can't get it to work, whats going on here? I already took the coil lookin thing out of my old one and installed it in my new one, hooked up the other purple wire, and it started to smoke when i turned it on. SO then i tried just putting my old motor in the new box, well the new box is too shallow, so i tried switching the fan blades on the motors and using the old motor, but it's still about 1/4 inch too deep for the box. When i connect it with the box away from the wall, it still does not work. What am i doing wrong here?
Thanks for any help you can give me...

sounds like you either
A. fried the motor from the s10,
B. blew a fuse, cuz the s10's motor was bad to begin with.
C. every 18 months or so my car will melt the connector on a wire that apparently powers the fan motor. i believe it is a gray or brown wire, and its located behind the radio area.
don't ask me why it cooks the wire, it just does, if i could figure it out i would fix it.
