I was reading my book of firebird road tests, and came over something real interesting, a 303 pontiac used in 1969. Anyone know anything about this motor or know where I can get one to put in my thirdgen (okay, I have no intention of actually doing this, but I need something to make this thirdgen realted and Im curious about the 303). What I know is its a road race motor with 475 hp at 8000 rpm and 12.8:1 compression. What kind of camshaft/intake type setup was on these motors? Im curious, because it could help show that people dont need to go overboard on thinks like carb size and exhaust. I guess Im fascinated by oddball sized motors with seemingly impossible power outputs.

This was a destroked pontiac motor used for The TRANS AM
races on the late 60 early 70's. (5 litre rule).
It was a full on race motor with huge RAMAIR V heads and
dual quad carbs and a big solid cam. Simular to the chevy 302 with the Z28 cross ram. It was never sold to the public.
But a few were snuck out the back door in 69/70.

1200+ cfm of carburation, big tube headers and open exhaust.
