idle speed questions

Today I reset the minimum idle speed on my car according to the tech article here. The article says to set it to 450, but it was set to about 650 so I turned it down to 450. However, this didn't solve the idle problem I've been having. She idles fine when she's cold, but once I drive her around the block the idle goes to about 550 in drive and about 550-600 in park.
So, here's are my questions:
Is this what it should be set at, and why would my idle only be crappy after driving around the block?

Thanks,
Brandon

Sounds like yo may have a minor vacuum leak or spark delivery problem or something minor like that... Good luck hunting. I'd check for codes and check the TPS/MAP/Coolant Temp outputs, too. Oh, is your IAC motor working????

I have replaced the cap, rotor, plugs and plug wires. The vaccum is fine; the TPS, IAC and MAP are ok but I don't know how to check the coolant temp sensor.

Tab,

The CTS, MAT, and just about all other GM analog temperature sensors have identical scales. The resistance of the sensor element chamges with temperature in an asymetric curve. The table shows the relationship, so just measure the resistance with an ohmmeter at a given temperature.

Just because the vacuum is fine doesn't mean that you don't have a small vacuum leak, my man.

And how do you know if TPS/MAP/IAC are ok? Do you use a scantool or something?

I checked the MAP, IAC and TPS with a voltmeter. There's one guy on here who told me if the MAP voltage varies then it's bad; the IAC pintle moves in and out, and the TPS gives the right voltage. Is the coolant temp sensor the one on the manifold or on the left side of the block? And if it's a minor vaccum leak, how the heck can I find it??

Thanks,
Brandon
