Let me start off by saying that I don't even know what a rod bearing is, I'm still learning. I'm guessing it has something to do with the pushrods. But I've read that 350s seem to eventually throw the #6 or #7 rod bearing. I was wondering if someone could explain why this happens and explain possible preventative measures (that allow me to sill enjoy the car).
Thanks.
Thanks.

Never heard about a propsensity to throw a #6 or #7 rod bearing. The terminology of "throwing a rod" applies to breaking the connecting rod or connecting rod bolts due to overrevving the engine or losing oil pressure
If you have good oil pressure and don't overly abuse the engine, you have nothing to worry about...

yeah it does look like you're still learning, but all in all there aren't any stupid questions. rod bearings fit the connecting rods not the push rod. most rod bearings are a crush fit with a couple of little indexing tabs that fit notches i nthe rod and cap. there are other bearings that may be dowelled or even screwed but that's a pretty specialized application and not anything you'd see on a street engine in a thirdgen.
don't ever start it or make the crank turn in any way
really just take care of the car change your oil on time don't race it ect. but, some times stuff just goes wrong and it will happen
