what exactly is this piece?? all it looks like is a coupler between the fuel pump and the fuel lines but whats up with the metal part. when i went to put the new pump on this piece doesnt fit snugly but could i just use a piece of rubber fuel hose to connect the pump to the metal lines???

Its the pulsator. Basically a muffler for the fuel system.
ah okay. so i can get away without using it and just connecting the pump and lines with a piece of hose?

I wish I read that before mistakenly installing the low pressure hose when I converted my 94' Suburban to TPI. The hose eventually split under the pressure. Luckily for me, the Suburban tank is easy to drop, unlike the 3rd gen cars. I had to buy a new pump to get the right hose, but it was worth the piece of mind.Originally posted by Benm109
