there is a pinging sound comming from the distributer coil tbi area of my 89 i-roc z. when it pings the rpms drop and go back up. it pings about every second or second and a half. please i need help

welcome to thirdgen.org sounds to me like it might be a spark jumping from a plug wire. look at it in the dark, try misting some water on the wires.
