ok my ? is im going from tpi to carb and am woundering if the stock cam in my 85 lb9 305 engine has the fuel pump lobe on the cam so i can run a mechanical fuel pump for my carb it has a block off plate there now?
It does but why wouldn't you just run a bypass AFPR to knock the TPI fuel pressure down?
You just reuse the original fuel lines and don't need to pull the pump from the tank
Or run a carby elec fuel pump at tank

If you have the lobe on the cam, you can run a mech pump but its best to remove the fuel pump from the tank as it creates a restriction. Swapping a carb sending unit in solves the issue
To keep an electric intank, swap to a TBI pump. The operate at a lower pressure more friendly to carbs. TPI/V6 pumps will work, but the extra strain of the pressure constantly being bled back to the tank will wear on the regulator and pump and shorten their lifespan
