im trying to decide on a set of roller rocker arms.
what exactly is ment by "self-aligning" rocker arms?

as far as i can tell, chevy sbc's came with them '87 and up. if it refers to the two bumps on the tip of the rockerarm, my '91 350 came with them and my '87 305 didnt.

cant i use any sbc rollerrocker set as long as the stud diameter and the lift ratio are correct?

Re: self-aligning rocker arms?
if the pushrod fits snug side to side in the head you wont need self aligning rockers.

Only one alignment method allowed per rocker. If your heads have pushrod slots instead of round holes, don't use self-aligning rockers or guide plates.

Self-aligning didn't start until the '88 model year.
