So I'm to the point in my build where I'm looking for a stroker kit. After having my craiglist motor looked at by the machine shop (96 vortec), its going to need a bore, a few rods, and he recommended a new crank. Because of that I'm looking for a stroker kit. The car is going to be ran in the big bend open road race, but nothing serious. More of a bucket list item than to be truly competitive, but I would like to be near 400hp. The heads I am using are vortec 64cc (which obviously will need some work for higher lift cam).
Here are the must haves:
Forged pistons- bringing me to high 9.x:1 compression (.030 over)
I beam rods- 5.7 or 6.0 makes little difference to me
Pre balanced assembly
If external balanced, must have a flywheel setup (153 tooth prefered)
Here is the kit I am looking at
http://www.cnc-motorsports.com/scat-...h-pistons.html
Those of you that have built 383's, are there any better bang for the buck balanced kits out there? I'm looking to keep the kit under $1500 and get as much for my money as possible.
Thanks
Mike

I'd probably stick with Scat or Eagle for a balanced stroker crank kit, I'm running an externally balanced Scat bottom end, with 10:1 pistons in my 383 stroker.

I think Summit Racing prices are better by $100 and free shipping. You want a balanced assembly you bolt right in.
Good luck.

Summit does have a setup that is cheaper, but not with the dish on the pistons I need. Also bumpOriginally Posted by cardo0

Also bump If you find a SCAT assembly you want be but does not show on your website search just get the part number from the SCAT w/s and use Summit's search for your part number. Be careful though as sometimes the search filters can filter out parts with details that make them incompatible for your car - like internal or external balance.
Good luck.

I would go with the scat 350-3750-6000-L for about 245.00
Scat 6.000 I beam rods with 7/16 bolts 345.00
Wiseco Pro True pistons and rings F/T 425.00
Rods and mains 52.00
This would be a good kit under 1100
The crank would need to be balanced that runs about 225.00 no heavy metal.
Don't cheap out on block work square deck before boring off decks
Plate hone using a good hone and hardware and gasket to be used in the end build.
On old GM blocks I always line hone with new ARP bolt kit.
