Okay, I know someone who talks a lot of crap and he has a 95 Z28 that is lightly modded. It has a 6 speed, stock rear gears, CAI, headers, airfoil, dynomax cat back.
I have a 4 bolt 350 with 487 casting heads(1.94/1.50), 4 speed auto, Comp Cams XE 262 cam, quadrajet that has been tuned with rods and hangars, an old holley intake, hedman shorties through a 2.5" straight pipe, hooker cat back, accell supercoil, 160 thermostat, 3.23 posi rear.
By next spring I hope to do new valve springs, roller rockers, shift kit, Performer RPM intake, electric fan conversion, and open the exhaust to a 3" straight pipe. Perhaps drag radials.
His best run is 13.7@102, but last time he went the best he could do was 14.2. He has traction problems. He generally beats my buddies 93 formula auto with CAI and exhaust by a car length if he hooks. He has lost before to that car due to traction issues. My car feels faster than that 93. The LT1 seems to have more low end, but once I get over 4000 rpm my motor is an animal.
We would do a 0-100 race on the highway. Do I have any shot next spring? He talks a lot of crap, and accused me of BSing that a V-6 mustang passed me because I couldnt hook at 50 like I was going and that hes never lost a race in the rain. Excuse me, I care about my personal safety and other peoples.
Oh well if I cant beat him now, once I build the stroker and supercharge it (4 years down the road
) he will only see my back end.

Slap in a new cam/ some 3:73s you'll have a better shot at it.
What's the cc on those heads?

i think you might take him off thie line, but he'll catch you eventually. i agree with mark, 3.73's and a higher stall would definately get you closer to him...

I have to agree with Mark. You'll probably lose, but at least it won't be embarrassing!!

I figured hed beat me, but my car does feel as fast if not faster than my buddies 93, but his is less modded, an auto, and methinks it has highway gears in it. All I know is a bigger cam and better heads would beat him. But Id rather wait up, do what I want, meaning the 383 and a supercharger (sucks being a college student with no money now), and blow his doors off by lengths. I will just say the carb is out of tune and I have a really loose belt.
It does suck when you have someone who doesnt know much about cars and yet you cant beat them. It will all be worth it when I place $50 on it, and he tells me Im lying about what Ive done to it. And then I run an 11.9 to his 13.9

Oh yeah the heads are 76cc and it has 8.5:1 compression. I just keep opening up to the blowers in summit to remind me why I dont want to jack it up.

Get the drag radials. The BFGs are the best. This will help you with the traction problem. Good luck.
