I went out to one of the local street racing hangouts just to seewhat was going on. There were only about six or seven cars out there and when I'm pulling into the place where everyone parks at, there is a early 90's Mustang pulling out.
Well, I'm just sitting there B.S.'ing with some guys and someone said why don't you run that Mustang that just left? I was thinking no because he was hittin' pretty hard and somone said that he had just put a 351 in it. Anyway, the guy comes back and no one else is racing so we decided to race.
Pull out onto the road and we get beside each other and I try to bring it up to about 1500rpms to launch, well that was not the thing to do because we took of and I spun thru 2nd but it was still a good race with him winning by about two cars. We get to the end and line up again, and take off, I get him off the line but he started pulling after about 60mph and beat me by about a 1/2 car length. I felt pretty good because he should have beat me alot worse than that. I saw the motor and it was a 351, so he must not have it tuned right or something.
I felt bad about losing though and was on the way home when a
new Maxima pulled up beside me acting all stupid. I laugh at him
and he gets pissed off. At the next light we are next to each other and he starts PURGING! I'm thinking this guy's got nitrous on a Maxima? Anyway, light turns green and I smoke his a$$.
So even though I lost to the Mustang , it felt good having a little fried rice on the way home.
P.S. all the races on a two lane backwoods road that leads to nowhere. The only cars on that road at night are there for one reason only. To race. I was in the Z.

good runs, your car did good man. never did understand why someone would go through all the work of putting a 351 into a mustang when the 302 can easily make just as much power...
it's different though, so thats always cool

Well, the 351 is to the 5.0 essentially what the 383 (or 377) is the 350. I don't know how many 5.0 parts work in the 351, though. If not many, I'd go with the 5.0 because of it's nice, cheap, extensive, cheap aftermarket.

Theres a kid in town who dropped alot of $$$ into his 351 project in his 1986 GT Mustang. Mna what a waste he gets beat by stock FI 5.0 H.O.'s all the time.
Yeah, I don't know why you would spend the money for an entirely new motor when you perk up the 302 for way less. Oh well, to each his own.
He still should of been running faster than he was though.
