good luck with the new purchase. Make sure you go for a 305 5 speed or a 350 IROC. I still say 350 though..it's the best bang for your buck.

Make sure you get the TPI engine. The TBI cars really give gains to most mods. Not nearly as good as the TPI cars. Either that or carb.

Another one has seen the error in their ways. Like Cobra killer said try to find a 305 5-speed or 350 car. Although I feel that any 3rd gen V8 Firebird or Camaro you can get has a lot of potential. Look at my car I hardly think it is really slow

What these guys have said and your first mod should be full exhaust.

Don't buy an IROC or any Camaro with the LG4 or LO3 engine.

Buy a Mustang!!! They are cheap and mod easily.

Okay so if you really want a Camaro, I say go with an 85-86 LB9 or any L98. try to get a 5-speed 305 if you get one. Good luck and welcome to the real world!!!

I say get a 305 5-speed and swap to a 350 (or larger ) or get a 350 and swap trannies. Failing that, either get a 305 5-speed and leave that combo in there or better (except for looks and high ride height ) get a 5.0 notchback mustang or a 4 cyl notchback and swap in a 5.0 (or larger ) and work the suspension including torque arm and panhard rod. Can you tell I dislike 305's

However, I love my little Formula.

"Don't buy an IROC or any Camaro with the LG4 or LO3 engine"

He's not kidding. Listen to him.

I'll admit, I halfway knew what I was getting into when I bought it. I knew it wasn't that powerful, but, it was a V8 RWD car with T-Tops and it was sure cooler than mom n dad's Lumina (now driven by my little bro who dosen't take care of it for spit unlike me). I just didn't realize that it was so easily beat by other cars. Oh well, mod time! I've got the $$ for headers now, should be happening soon!

the L03 intake has more potential than the tpi setup, its got the easy set up of carb and the fuel efficiency of efi, if you have lots of mod money go with the L03............ it just sucks when its stock....... mines pretty quick, i feel gains with every mod and ive beaten a tpi 305 stock with mine and a worked integra (heh no wonder) and a 70's monte carlo with a ****ty 350..... only reason i beat that car was cuz its a ****ty 350 lol and its real heavy.

Make sure you get a fuel-injected one.
I would say go with any V8 but try to find one
with positraction.

As far as getting a tpi over a tbi.... that's crap
The tpi system has a 4800 rpm ceiling(stock)
And they are a ton $$$ and a P.I.T.A to mod

GET A TBI!!! the stock one sucks but spend $350
on a newer one and have carb-like power with
F.I. effeciency.

i dunno i'd take port injection over throttle body injection any day of the week. Just cause the TPI cars don't have a great powerband from the intake stock doesn't mean anything. Modify a TPI setup and it will be alot quicker than the TBI. Get a mini-ram or superram and run that against an edelbrock TBI setup and there's no comparison. TBI is good for a truck. But not for a camaro IMO

MPFI kicks ***. well be that as it may, TBI is a hell of alot cheaper to mod. i myself am partial to tpi, minram, stealth ram, or other mpfi system. i believe it is much more efficient.
