My first ***** job! I know, I know!
Well I know Kurtis wont like this post right now (Sorry)
Paul should like this.
But I just finished my first ***** car at my shop. I'm kinda proud of myself, cause it turned out pretty nice. It came in all beat up and falling apart. I brought her back to life and I must say " I like it" Yeah I know everyone hates ricers, but. Cars are cars to me, as long as it is tastefull and not overdone I like it. Here are some pic.

Very nice! I like it...I love that colour. If I were to ever repaint my whole car that's the colour I would go with...candied red. I would do without the silver tint though. Otherwise, good job man.
I think those rims would look good on a 3rd Gen.

I work at Niagara Auto Sales in Welland. I've been detailing for about 13 years now. Been at this shop for about 10 years now. The rims are Chrome and very polished, the camera causes it to lose the effect.

Kaz do you detail cars for a living?
If so I'm going to come down and visit you. I have a problem starting...
My front end of the car, like hood and front clip and stuff, it has these... I guess they're watermarks but I'm not sure. I can't wash this stuff off. It looks like little raindrops that have been embedded in my paint.
Can you buff that **** out? I tried everything, including a claybar...
Maybe I'll swing by sometime. How much do you charge?

I know I was just palyin! Hey though, a car is a car in my eyes. It is usually the drivers that give a type of car a bad name. I like almost all cars, as long as they don't look completely stupid. To each there own in my eyes. I don't discriminate!

Kaz would buffing get rid of those "water spots" I'm talking about?
You do paint work too huh? I want to repaint my front ground effects, sides, and rear bumper, and perhaps my front clip and hood too... hmmm...? maybe my doors while you're at it too.... crap that's my whole car...
if you saw my car you'd ask why, but little chips/blemishes **** me off...
realistically just my ground effects

Hard to say Alex. I would have to see them to say either or. I know exactly what you are talking about, trouble is ho deep are they. Acid rain causes those spots, and they can be a real pain to get out. I could do you GFX for you, you would have to take them off to do the dbest job possible. Trouble is paint matching though. If the car is fadded sometimes the new paint won't match to good.

GM told me they could not blow in areas I wanted painted, but they could match the paint perfectly. Doesn't make sense. LOL.
They said even though my paint is aged, they could match is PERFECTLY... hmm....?
So are you telling me Acid Rain is in Toronto?
I've only driven 2 times in the rain, and this was caused from one of those times. That one time, I didn't wash my car for a couple of days either, and I had these stains in my rims that I still can't clean off completely. Strangeness.
I pretty much wanna restore my car into showroom condition. Right now it's got chips here and there. The side ground effects have a layer of grime underneath them (not visible) that I can't get off no matter how hard I try... There's chips here and there...
What if I left you my car for a week or two lol you seem like a trustworthy person.., ?:P

Not sure who painted it. Actually it appears to be original. I could get the code if you like? It looks that way cause I buffed it in three differnet stages then carnubad the crap out of her. Took me 4 hours to get that finish.

Dude. I have been working on cars for a long time. It is my job to know the difference. By the looks of it. It IS original paint. I even have the Honda touch up paint at the shop. Don't let pictures confuse you. As for who painted it...Honda! You would be suprised what a professional buff job can do! The only thing that hasn't been painted from factory is the GFX!

Not Candy red just the cam. It's a very nice red though. Heck all car companies apply funky colours to factory cars now, pearls, metallics. flip flops. It is a very nice colour but not candy. With a really good 3m 3 stage buff job and a good wax your car can look this good too. It's all in the work done to it, not the paint.

Absolutely!
I agree with Kaz. I used to detail for Lexus as well as recondition cars that came in on trade. It's amazing what a person who knows how to use a highspeed buffer can accomplish. As for your rainspots though ES, it is pretty well impossible to say for sure without seeing them. I'd definitely let have Kaz or another good detail shop have a look at it before I'd shell out for paint though. And I'd steer clear of GM for anything paint-related. Just my opinion ES.
And Kaz, you're so right about the money. If it weren't for that downfall, I'd have started up a shop too after university. I loved the work and I got to drive a tonne of cool cars. Ah, I'll always have the memories though...

I am sick of being told what to do by people how don't have a clue. salesman think they know it all...all they know is how to bullsh*t and pass the buck when the Sh%t hits the fan with a customer. I will start my own shop! Then I can fancy up all your cars here. Make them look like gold!!!!!! Trust me when I want something...I get it! Just have to find someone with cash who wants a hidden investment.
As for the cool car thing...OH ya!! I've driven a Mercades 500sl convertible...sweet. all sorts of vettes, a Ferarri, a Hummer...etc. etc. Ain't life grand. Wish they were all mine!!!
Hey!! I can dream!!!! Must sleep!!!ZZZZZZZZZZZ lol!

Makes me wish I lived closer. We could be business partners.
*** knows I'd love to be working on cars again instead of doing what I'm doing. The almighty dollar is the only obstacle. (I'm trying to remember where Niagara Auto Sales is..I'm thinking near Seaway Mall...but it's been a few years since I lived there.)
Best of luck to ya! I really hope it works out.

We are right across from the CASA del toro. Now the KAVE. Just past Tallmans transport. Hey if anyone is ever looking for a good car or truck come see me. I can tell you what to stay away from and what you should buy before it's gone. We have just about everything. Lots of trucks and 4x4s. Even utility vehicles. If you do come ask for Keiran...that's me!
Thanks for the support Tracey. It's to bad like you said...we could be partners. Hey you never know what can come of the future.

If you brought that car back from the dead, you did an awesome job! I agree with those that said that colour is beautiful. Absolutely brilliant. You've got some very serious skills, and you should keep doing what it appears you do best.

Well AT4 T/A...I wouldn't say it was totally dead, but...she was very rough. I knew I shoud have took the before and after photos. She didn't look very nice that's for sure. And I thank you for the complement. I don't see me leaving this job any time soon. Welll the detailing part anyway.
This is how I like my engines to look. If I can't see the clouds reflections...it isn't done. This is a 96 sunfire I did this summer.

And just so everyone knows...I do not cover these engines in dressing/silicone...I hate that stuff. Once it is on.... it is very tuff to get off. Any dressings that I may use is silicone free and the only place I put it is on the tires. And if you want to paint anything...Good luck! Thanks for the vote of confidence Fruity One. Heck maybe I should just start my own buisness from my house first then go on with a shop when I can afford it.
thanks everyone!

Kaz,
Just wondering, how much should one expect to spend on a great detail job like that? Ballpark would be fine, I would love to have my GTA that shiney again, it seems that no matter what I do I can't seem to get the fresh painted shine again
What type of wax/polish do you use? Would I do well to invest in a buffer or would my inexperienced hands kill my paint job??
Thanks in advance
Mark

Kaz, do you have any recommendations on what I could use to get that spray off my plastic parts? I've tried everything, no luck. Anything I can spray on to dissolve it and polish my plastic caps/otherpieces real shiny so I can see clouds too?

Kaz,
Great job on the Prelude.
Perhaps in the spring we (some of us) can get together with you to go over detailing/polishing/waxing tips. I had my Camaro professionally waxed this year and want to know how to upkeep it. I also want to do my other cars as well. I hope you start your own business soon. Lotsa luck.

Yeah Mark it is pretty quick...probably 13's to 14's. In that range maybe in the 1/4. Not bad.
Easy try to get yourself some stuff called " Acryl Sol " #n PF 600 made by Pro Form that should help.
Thanks Pacer. I guess I could maybe let out a few tips. LOL
Yeah I would really love to get my own shop going soon. My Boss's at my shop don't really respect me. They think that their sh*t don't stink or something they tell me I am to important to take a day off but not important enough for a raise basically. Jerks!!!
Thanks to everyone for the uptalk. I feels good to be told good job once and awhile. My bos expects it so it isn't a ooption anymore. A$SHOLES> Again thanks everyone.
As for prices guys...it really depends on how bad it really is. A car that is not o bad overall. around $100-140. One that needs alot of TLC and buffing and paint touchups could run you into the $300-500 range, expesially if it requires paint work. It is really hard to tell without seeing the car in person.

Easy...most auto parts/suppliers can get that stuff. As for the rest of the engine it is a b*tch to get off. sometime you have to shampoo and acid the parts to remove it.

How much to make my car look like that?
Again it all depends on the amount of work needed.
Thanks Knight350. I am planning on it. Just need to get the begining cash to get started. And being that I am getting married in May 2003 money is tight so.... Maybe I will do some side work to build up the cash first, then get my own shop.
That is really top quality work Kaz. You have reason to be proud.
After you paint your car how long do you have to wait before it can be buffed by a professional like yourself. Assuming base clear coat paint.

I guess it all depends on the cureing process. for instance most paint jobs are quick cure: lots of hardener in the paint and lots of heat light used. Bake it quickly (OK). Then another is just the right amount of hardener and let the car sit under low heat lamps. Bake it slowly. To buff a car completely I suggest to wait at least a month or 2. Some body shops buff it the day after when they have a few runs or inperfections. I find this leaves marks in the paint . I guess you could do it after a week or 2 but I don't suggest it.
