Me and my buddy put in a new Raptor 700R4 in his 86 IROC. We pulled the distributor out to get to the top bellhousing bolts. Put everything back together and set the timing. Try to start car and it just cranks slowly. I have a car starter on the battery so the battery wont die. Pulled out #1 plug to make sure I was TDC incase the harmonic balancer timing mark was off for some reason. Well I pulled the plug and gas poured out. I pulled the rest of them and they all had gas. I manually cranked the car to get all the gas out of the cylinder chambers. Let it sit for 20 minutes to see if they will fill on their own. They didnt so i put the plugs back in and tried cranking. Still nothing. Just cranks slowly and sounds wierd. I dont know what to do. Anyone that can help it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Did you reconnect all the grounds? Sounds like you might have forgottin to tighten one down. Dont let the smoke out of your wires...check them!

I've a theory...I think you may have pinched the injector line when you bolted evrything back up...effectively firing the injectors while the key is on...filling the cylinders with fuel.

Do two things...

#1...Drain the oil ASAP...if gas came out the plug holes, you surely have a bomb below in the crankcase.

#2..Get an ohm meter and pull the injector harness and check continuity to ground...I think you might find the problem.

All above assumes no issues before the tranny swap.

Drained the oil/gas out of the pan. put new oil in.... rechecked the timing. Dead on. charged the battery over night just incase. Still starting it with battery and car starter so battery doesnt die. Still cranking slowly. Im gonna check for spark again later today after my class. Just letting the gas dry up a bit. Any other suggestions? Maybe starter is going bad? Thanks guys
