Anyone have any tips, pics, suggestions on making the four center bolts fit early style heads?
Just elongate them is not alot information. I don't want to ruin my intake.
Thanks, D

you have to chamfer themtops of the holes in the manifold at the same angle as the holes in the heads,
for the bolt head to rest flat on the surface
the holes in the intake are diffeent angle than the ones in the heads
so counter drilling machining is required
good luck

So the bolts will fit but the different angle will not let bolt head seat correctly? Thats what I thought when I was looking at the intake anyway.

chamfer was the word i mean tot use up there
i fixed it

some manifolds now come stock with both the 73* and 90* bolt patterns. the intake i have can use both bolt patterns, and there is plenty of surface area for the bolt to hold down the manifold. if your going to drill more holes to accomodate the other bolt pattern, you should also countersink the holes so the head is sitting on a flush and smooth surface perpendicular to the hole.

Its easier (but more expensive) to get yourself an Edelbrock TPI intake manifold. It has both bolt patterns. Or find someone with an 85-86 TPI intake that has the old style intake holes.
Hasnt anyone posted pictures before?

Nope, no pics yet. I was hoping for some but I've been looking at the Edelbrock High-Flo TPI Baseplate at jegs this afternoon. New is always better if the $$$ are there.
Thanks guys
Update. Ordered the Edelbrock High-Flo TPI baseplate from Jegs. $393.99
