Hi guys. My first post. I have a 305 TPI engine out of an 85 Camaro that I am dropping into a 36 Olds. Not exactly a third gen car but my question is:
Where does the EGR tube coming up from the exhaust connect? I have heard that not hooking up the EGR can hamper engine performance, etc so I would like to use it if at all possible. All the other emision control stuff has been removed (air pump, carbon canister, all the plumbing ect) as I am using block hugger headers and dont have conections for them. I thought I read somewhere that EGR tube connects into the back of the manifold, but I can't find a port there.
Any help would be appreciated.

None of what you describe is part of the EGR system.

OK that helps a little. There is an EGR valve between the plenum and the manifold that is hooked up to the EGR solenoid through a vacuum line. The EGR solenoid is hooked up to manifold vacuum. It is also connected to the ECM through an electrical conection. Are you saying this is all there is to it?
Where does it get the "exhaust gas" to recirculate? It doesn't get it from the exhaust?

No, exhaust for the EGR comes from the crossover passages in the heads and intake manifold.

Cool. I guess I'm set then. The tube that was coming up from the exaust on the donor car was for all that other stuff then?

That's part of the AIR system.

Is he talking the hose from the catalyct converter to diverter valve/smog pump assembly?
