ok guys, i have done a search but to not much avail! ive just installed a new edlebrock inlete manifold (very well worth doing!). but now there is this really annoying, quite loud ticking when the engine is running! its audiable from the drivers seat and also from under the hood. i just cant pin point it. someone else on here said he was having the same thing and suspected it was the injectors. ive done the screwdrriver to ear thing and when placed on the fuel rail it sounds really loud and very possibly the cause. what i want to know is, is this ticking potentially dangerous for the engine?
did you replace the factory injectors with aftermarket?
I have the same problem with my aftermarket injectors. I've read that they're just a bit longer so there's mechanical contact between the injectors and metal parts, perhaps remedied by putting a washer under the fuel rail to raise it a little.
or replace the injectors.
I used a stethoscope to isolate the noise to the injectors. sounds like real bad valve lash at first.
I've lived with it for years in my daily driver, no problem, just annoying. one of these days...

Are you sure that it's the injectors???
You did replace the intake manifold, so, I'd re-check the valve lash first!!
Do the valve lash adjustment with the engine running, the noisy culprit will stick out like a sore thumb!!
Before you actually put a wrench to the rocker nut, place your finger lightly on the rocker arm, you may even feel the noisy culprit klacking!!
