Can I put Vortec L31 heads on a 305 TPI Engine and still keep the TPI system on it? I really want to get these power boosting heads, but I also want to keep it fuel injected for mods further on down the road like cold air intake or a turbocharger. if I can't use L31 heads, is there an alternative that offers similar power output?

You can use vortec heads on a 305 just make sure you get the chamber volume down to 58cc otherwise you will loose your compression.
Also for the best results you should get a vortec TPI base that just come out.
Stock base might work but you gonna have to drill it so it can bolt up to vortec heads. Plus i do not think that the ports would align well enough. ( the vortec heads have taller and narrower ports than the stock heads).

scroggin-dicky sells "drilled and tapped" vortech heads also for like $75 more that will accept the 86 and earlier manifold bolt patterns. i dont know about the ports, but i havent heard about any problems mating any manifolds to them accept for the bolt pattern. their tpi manafold is like $399 for the vortech heads. i was looking at this too. sounds good.
