Rear end question NEED HELP QUICK
A guy from the boards is bringing me a rearend today (I paid for). It is supposedly from a 91 RS. Here is my question...how can I tell for sure it has the 28 spline? Do I have to pull the cover and axle and count or is there some number or something on the rearend itself? Im getting the rearend in a few hours so if someone know I thank them ahead of time.
I need the 28 spline axles because Im getting a SLP posi and a set of 3.73s for this rearend if its in fact a 91 rs rear.
The guy says he bought it off a member on the boards that lived in Cheasapeak OH. Says he never opened it up or anything to make sure its 28 spline. Thats why Im worried. Could just be his old rearend....

The only way to know is to look.
Before you hand over the money, pul an axle. Take a ½" socket and ratchet, and a 5/16" 6-point box-end wrench; those are the only tools you'll need to get an axle out of a drum brakes rear.

its that easy? Ok I will do then. Ill pull it and count the splines. I hope it is a 28 spline so I will have the rear. Also...could I install a POSI unit with hand tools? Or do you have to set the depth of the gears when you take the unit out? Ive never been inside a rearend so I dont know./

Yeah its 28 spline. The pin was pretty hard to push out at first but we got it. I was gonna leave some good feedback for the guy I bought it from but I just relized I don't know his name, TGO name, or anything LOL.
Got the rearend delievered to my door for 130$ total...not a bad deal in my book. Considering everyone around here wants 300$ for a drum rear
