holy smokes!

night and day difference between new and old

old:
stock 700r4 w/ b-stall converter (1700-1800)

new:
beefed 700r4 w/ rebestas clutches and bands
transgo shift kit
hardend sun shell
corvette servo
ATI converter built to my cam/head/intake/gear combo. roughly a 2400-2500 stall

this thing is RI-GOT DERN-DICULOUS! if i floored it with the old tranny i would get a little wheel hop and then it would hook and go. with this new tranny, if i floor it, the car gets sideways and when it shifts it swings the other way! i'm talking about just flooring it, not bringing it up on the converter. it's crazy! never thought a 305 could act this way!

got a couple of questions for you now:

when just cruising, the car seems to stay at one rpm while accelerating. i assume this is from the looser converter. is this so?

when at wot, the shifts are very solid. when it does shift, the rpm's do not drop as much as the used to. is this also from the looser converter? say i shift at 5200, before it would drop to ~3500 then climb back. now it only drops to ~4100 and stays there for a little while, even though i am still accelerating. it climbs up much faster though it seems.

i am still using the stock tranny cooler in the rad. will this be ok? i am planning on getting a stand alone unit, but will this be ok for now? what brand/size of tranny cooler would you recommend?

haha, this car will haul now!

Yup, that's normal for a loose converter to do When I first switched from stock to a 2500 stall, it felt really weird. Get an aftermarket cooler on there, I run a 19,000 GVW B&M supercooler which has done a really good job.

I second the aftermarket cooler. Higher stalls make alot more heat. Have fun!

my father has one in storage about 20mins from here. i will go and get it next week sometime. it does have lockup so it should be the same on the highway. think i'll be ok for a few days though? specially if i take it easy?
