get torque convertor???
I have a question...I have an 89 GTA with the 350 TPI 700R trans, I am putting in a new comp cam .454 in/exh lift , 218* dur @ .050 ; Edelbrock intake base, Edelbrock Runners, and ported stock plenum; and a set of Hedman long tubes (I dont know if any of that matters but I just wanted to make for sure). So, do I need a new torque convertor or just keep the one that I have? I am not for sure what size the stock one is but if I remember right I saw that it was 1900 for my car...I may be wrong.
Thanks,
Brad

1900 sounds high for a stocker, but that could very well be as you have the 350 as opposed to the 305. I would stick with that converter for street driving, or if I went higher, I would only go to 2,200 RPM stall. This wont screw you too bad as far as daily driving, and will still give you a great launch. But if you drive in alot of traffic, stick with the stock one, you will be glad you did.
In addition to all of this, is the tranny original? If so, with the engine build on the old tranny could prove fatal to it in a short peroid of time. I would suggest going with a whole new unit if the tranny has more than a few miles on it. Then you would be better off with that new converter.

It is the original trans in it. I hope it wont hurt it since they are high to buy a new one
. Maybe if it does fail on me I can have enough ;money saved up again to do a tranny swap or something. Well I guess for now I will stick with the factory t.c.. Thanks Berlinetta
