Ive been told I need to consider construction, size, features and efficiency when buying a converter. Not just brand name.

THough I want to go with a 3200, and its going on a 330 hp crate from Scoggin and Dickey. Which would be the best stall to go with and why?

What inch ect.... I understand that all of this matters.

330 hp crate... i'd say a 2800 stall would be good.

i have a edge racing converter in my L98. 2800stall, 9.5 inch converter with lock up. i like it and it was custom made for your application. for 550 bucks, its a good mid range priced converter between like b&m/TCI and yank/precision industries.

it seems to be pretty efficient to me. driveability is great. it allows me to hit 1.8 60 foots on stock iroc wheels and street tires. i still get good gas mileage. i'd say i lost 1-2mph at MOST. with normal highway driving, you wont notice a loss. but i drive hard and keep the rpms up so i lost abit more when going up hills and such.

Dont just buy a high stall because you want to, you need to match stall to your powerband which is dictated by cam specs. I dont know what duration @.050 is for that motor, but dont order a convertor blind-that's wasting your money and not getting everything you can from the investment.

Thanks for the guys that contributed to this thread. Just for yalls information. I have considered my cam specs and will not be pushing just 330 hp. Should have said this before, but it will around 390-420

I was given this..."its not just stall size but how large the stall is in inches, construction and effecincey ect.."

So I wanted to see what everyone would say

oh with higher power like that up in higher rpms, you'll want abit higher stall than 2800.

but when you decide on your cam, list the specs. roughly 400hp on a motor like that should spin it up to about 6000rpms with those heads. i'm guessing your peak torque will be near 3500-4000rpms or so. i'd like a 3500 stall in something like that.
