The bellhousing is different, but the tranny case is the same. The V6 trans has different gear ratios and a different input shaft. I have an extra V8 trans and bellhousing which i am rebuilding and would consider selling.

Also you might want to consider, the V-6 tranny isn't as strong as the V-8. I used to have a 2.8 with a 5 speed to and destroyed my tranny with just the V-6 135HP V-6. There's no tell how long the V-6 tranny will last behind the V-8. It might last 100,000 miles or you may go down 2 blocks and its gone. It depends on how you drive. If your a lead foot like me then I think your better off getting a V-8 tranny.

I wouldn't expect the strength of the tranny to be any different, but could be wrong. Maybe because of the different input shafts. I don't know if the diameter differs on them, but the number of splines is not the same. Doing this swap, you'll want to switch to a bigger clutch too, although it would be possible to still use a V6 clutch it would probably slip. There are a lot of other posts on this topic if you run a search. Maybe they can help out some.
