I realize that the title sounds bad, but I figured it would put butts in the seats. I took my T-5 to the tranny shop to have it rebuilt and "beefed" up. They told me 175 for labor + parts. I called them today and they said that it was a grand total of $121.52. Naturally I **** my pants and asked if the parts I had asked for, a steel throwout bearing retainer and the 5th gear stabalizer, had been installed. They said with the exception of first gear looking a bit worn out, the tranny looked brand new on the inside. He said they installed the parts I asked for, fixed first gear and replaced all the seals. At this point I refer you to my title. "Did I just get lucky" or did I just get hosed?

Do they offer a warranty? Get the warranty on the work and dont worry about it. Unless you know enough to tear it apart and look at it, you'll never know.

When in doubt, l ask for the old parts back, just to make sure there are old parts. Kinda hard to put a new one in w/o removing the old. However, it also goes back to how do l know if it came from my part? l dont. But do they know l dont?

Enjoy the $50+ you saved.
