3rd accumulator ball capsule ?'s
OK, after finally getting the little bugger out (drilling it out) it looked fine but i'm up to my neck in tech articles written by many different people. It's great when everyone aggrees on a mod, but this got me stumped.
One article says always replace the capsule going into the servo area with a new one from GM.... OK
The next states that these buggers are one of the causes of meltdown when they leak and to just block the hole solid with a TH400 parking pawl plug. OK
The next states to block the passage where the 'X' is on the picture. Well the 'X' is in the passage between the servo and the case. So does that mean leave the opening from the vb to the servo open??? It doesn't go into much more detail than this.
OK if GM wanted this blocked, why did they put it there to begin with. It must have some purpose.... I am after hard shifts, so if it affects it in this manner no prob then..
Thing is there was 2 ***** in it, one to the vb and one to the case. If I plug it, should both passages be plugged. It this some kind of release to keep the band from binding or something... Any input app'cd.

Put in a new capsule, do not remove it. Removing it can cause problems with third gear accumulation. Trans-Go will tell you to leave it in, Precision Industries will tell you the same. The accumulator must be in good shape with no debris around the check ball. The check ball must seat with little to no leakage. If you have more questions call me at 800 7763288 Mon-Sat 10-6 PST.
Glad too help!!!
