My car is an 84 camaro with 150,000 miles. I noticed after driving around for a bit, i'd cruise up to 40 then i'd notice this slight howling sound everytime i'd press the gas. Well anyways, today I dropped off a few friends and decided to "tease" one of them with a little brake torque. The tires did spin, but the whole car started to shake violently and I thought for a moment that I lost it. Everything is fine now, cept the howling is a bit louder, and theres no chance I'll do a brake torque again. What exactly is wrong? I'm not the original owner, and obviously the car has been bagged before. Is it actually the rear end dying or could it be something else?

At 150000 miles the rear end may have never been touched. It sounds like an axle bearing(if the sound is from the rear). That shaking was a different problem called wheel hop. It's bad on the whole driveline and I suppose it could make a noisy bearing worse.
