What are the results its fully synthetic and improves gas mileage or is it only safe to stay with Dexron iii because its thicker and more desighned for the dexron ii frictional charcteristics.

The newer fluid is backwards-compatible, just like new fluids have always been.
Lots of people have used it in lots of transmissions, being as how that's pretty much all you get nowadays. Works fine. No noticeable difference.
