I just got my ATI th-400, and i need a torque converter. looking at either the hugher street/strip 3500 stall (#gm35) or the competition series 4000 stall (gm40). i have a 3.00:1 rear gear in a moser 9"/locker/35 spline. my motor is a 555" BBC, 3200-7200 SR cam. i am looking to do my 1/4 mile times in 1st and 2nd gear only, 3rd for highway cruising (2700rpm @ 75mph).
I am reaching my deadline, so i need a good off the shelf converter. this will street driven a lot. i have the Derale Atomic-cool remote cooler so the big stall shouldn't be too bad.
This is my first time with automatics, so i am just wondering what a 3500-4000 stall will be like on the street and highway.
thanks, josh

I personally would check into a TCI. I have a Huges in my car that was supposed to stall at 2500 and it comes no where close its just like the factory one. I talked to one of my friends and he had Huges send him 3 different ones, of which none stalled at what they said they would. He bought a TCI and has had no problems since.
That's sounds wierd... I did some research for off the shelf torque converters and Hughes was all good reviews.I am really just looking for a recommendation on stall. What brand I chose will be decided later.
