Looking at purchasing a new flexplate. I really dont think I need an SFI approved unit. I heard that Pioneer/Barnes was still being produced in the USA.
I was looking at the FRA-159.

Summit has them for $35, Autozone has them at $25.
Any opinions or experience with them?

They're fine for a regular street application, pretty much yerbasic stock replacement.
Pioneer is a good brand. Lots of stock replacement parts are made by them. Nothing special but at least it's not cheap offshore junk.

Yeah the stock replacement Pioneer flexplates usually do just fine. Unless you're drag racing in a class that requires a SFI approved flexplate, there's really no need for one of those overpriced units! I'm still running the stock flexplate behind a very healthy 355 with a stall converter and a shift kit, and it's given me zero problems.
Thanks guys. That is what I was wanting to hear.
Picked one up today at Autozone. Cheapest place I found for the same product.
Looked good out of the box. Nice welds. Only one one side though. Not sure if that matters or not. Stamped made in mexico. Better than China I guess.
Looks like it will do good for its intended use. I can compare to the stock flexplate friday.
