I replaced my ccc carb and distributor with a std quadrant and non computer controlled distributor.
Will my auto transmission still lock up using the manual carb and distributor? How can I tell if my transmission has locked up in overdrive? I have 2:73 gears. Running 60mph I am turning around 1400rpm''s with 235 x 15" tires.
It will not kick down to a lower gear when I mash the excelerator. Is kind of like in direct drive.
Also the engine idles OK at around 800rpm in park, when I put it in drive it almost stalls out. Almost sound like the engine is missing.

Unless the math is bad, 1400 rpm at 60 mph should be about right for O/D gear in a 700r4.

As far as the dropping gears under acceleration, I would make sure your TV cable is adjusted properly.

Ok thank you. Do you know where I can get instructions how to adjust the transmission kick down cable correctly?
