Just gathering opinions... Still taking the trans apart, Have never ran it yet sent the rear housing out to get the cable speedo conversion done and thought I would take the rest of the trans apart to "freshen" it up...

What I have found so far is that the cluster gear has a broken spline that fell out when I pulled the extension shaft out. Have not gotten the rest apart yet to see if any other ones have any cracks ect. so far all the gears look good but I have yet to take the main housing off yet.

If the rest of the cluster gear is fine would it be ok to run with the missing spline? Just an L98 with bolt ons maybe 350-360Hp and 450-475 ftlbs torque. in an '88 with 4.10's usage is street and SCCA solo and Track Night in America events. Might go to the local 1/8 mile strip a time or 2 but like road courses better

The attached photo is a shot showing on a new gear what is broke off flush to the "face" that the back cluster shaft seats against.
Thanks for the opinions

Re: T56 Cluster Gear broken spline question
The Gear Box has aftermarket for $175.

Too much vibration and load at that joint to play with broken toothed one.

Yes $175 is cheap compared to tearing into it again...
