I'm having some trouble identifying where the transmission fluid is leaking from when what to do about it.

Go get 2 or 3 cans of brake parts cleaner and spray that whole area down until all the trans fluid is gone. Once everything is nice and clean and dry, start the car up and get underneath to see where the fresh fluid is coming from. If you can't see any leaks, you might have to take the car for a short ride and then crawl back underneath. Don't wait too long or you'll just have another mess to clean up and you'll be right back where you are now. It really shouldn't take long to find the leak.

You can get some of that leak tester powder spray too if you want. It helps pinpoint the source of the leak.

Pan is dry, trans mount is dry, governor cover is dry, crossmember is dry, mount is dry.

The speedo cable "bullet" and everything behind it is wet.

Hmmmmmm...

Looks to me like you need the O-ring for the "bullet".

I notice also, you have the legendary Transmission Mount Of Death. Prepare yourself for a SERIOUS shock when that thing breaks. Fortunately it's eeeeeezy to circumvent that by replacing the crossmember with a normal one, allowing you to use the normal mount.

That universal joint is way of centering.. It will vibrate & take out the rear tranny seal.

Thank you for your insight. I'm not sure what a normal crossmember should look like. The previous owner didn't mention anything about changing the mount nor crossmember so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to look for.

Search the forum for "hydraulic mount" and "fluid-filled mount" for more info including pics.

And I agree about the UJ, it looks kinda wacked. If the car has drivetrain-speed (hmmmmmm) vibes, that could be the cause. This would of course be distinct from wheel-speed vibes (wubba-wubba-wubba-wubba-wubba-wubba-wubba).

Use the Advanced search, and don't forget the quotes. You'll get about a billion unrelated results otherwise because it'll pull up every post that has "hydraulic", "fluid", and so on.
