Is there enough room to swing the exhaust pipe over the rear while working on your back? It looks real tight, but I'm sure it's doable (I know I have to get the side up high)... Also, I'm planning on replacing the dual tailpipe (on same side out) muffler with a universal Walker # 18141 (saving $$$). Is there a tail pipe for that or just mix-n-match. I think it's 2 1/4" out, not the 2" out that is stock.

You've got to lower the rear end as far down as possible to get the exhaust pipe out.

Jack up the frame and let the axil sag all the way down, will go after a while of banging and moving it around. Good luck

Its a pain in the @$$ but good luck... I hate exhaust work.. I usually bribe my dad into coming up and doing the exhaust work for me.

might have missed the difficulty as i hadn't tried exhaust on these cars before, however i remember when i was minekee having my flow's installed, ended up w/ a new I-pipe, muffler, tail pipes and tips don't remember ever seeing an axle drop for it, was it because of the lift?

Yeah it's because of the lift; the i-pipe is shaped like a ? mark. So the guy with a lift can just hook the i-pipe over the axle. When we try this at home, we can't- the length is so long between the axle and the cat, that you can't raise the car high enough in the front to get enough "Swing" to hook the pipe over.
Absolute simplest/easiest is:
1. With rear frame of car on jackstands, slightly raise the rear axle with a hydraulic jack
2. Take wheels off
3. Undo anti-sway-bar end links
4. Undo lower shock-to-axle nuts, pull shock stud out of axle
5. Undo metal clip holding the brake line to the body of the car
6. CAREFULLY lower the axle to the ground, being very CAREFUL not to KINK the brake line or STRESS the brake hose!! (Never Ever let the brake hose support the full weight of the axle!! In fact, don't let the brake hose support ANYTHING!!)
Now you can just pull the old intermediate pipe straight out from the back of the car. Much easier then screwing with trying to get the car raised properly in the air!
