For the 84 Camaro V6 2.8, , i have "Dry-rotted fuel lines" as my "Smell of gas' issue (it also leaked out, all but a small amount.) We are going to drop the tank and change them. Pointed out they are likely Steel lines.
Does Autozone even sell this?
Diameter of the lines?
And is there a "Gasket at the top of the tank?"
Just a few questions, about where to buy the lines.. and what size/type. Thanks!

3/8th sending line, 5/16th return, rubber fuel hose will suffice, braided SS is better for durability reasons. Autozone does sell both, but I don't think they stock SS and I wouldn't count on them having enough length for rubber ones. As for a gasket yes, there is a rubber O-ring that seals the sending unit to the tank, beneath the lock ring. Although I just noticed your car is an 84 whicih means carbed so I that might not be the case, as I don't think it has a sending unit, not sure.

If you do go with rubber, I highly recommend the Ethanol-resistant rubber line. I had a lot of trouble with the Ethanol gas eating the rubber lines on my truck until I switched.
