Just picked up this sweet alum driveshaft of a ls1 for 40 hots. Was looking at the u joint towards the trans and it seems to not have any c clips. Is that right? Sorry for the noob question I'm new to u joints. Can I just swap my old one for this one plug and play?

Some u joints use internal clips on the inside of the cap.

As far as plug and play, it will swap right in but ls1 shafts are an inch shorter than 3rd Gen shafts, 40.5" vs 41.5". It doesn't seem to make a difference though.

They use plastic that is injected into an annular groove to retain the bearing cap. Can see part of it as that white-ish nub on the flat.

As a side note that cap looks to be out a bit (not fully seated). Check the side to side play on that u-joint. If it is very little then you are OK.

Ok yeah I did notice some plastic there. and u joint is ok no play. Installed it a few hours ago and can feel the difference in acceleration. Anybody looking to do the swap ? I recommend it its really worth it.
