fuel system (sump) set up on my car
I have a 406ci small block that makes around 650hp so a mechanical pump and pickup in the stock tank is out of the question. I need some Idea's on putting in a fuel cell or a new tank with a fuel sump in the car. so that I can build a fuel system to support my engine.

I kept with the stock tank and bought a sump to be welded in. Biggest mistake-not buying a new tank to install the sump on. The shop that did this for me said they flushed the tank several times after they were done, but still wound up with a peice of welding wire in the pump that burned it up, and before that happened stuck needel and seat plus lots of debris in the bowls of the carb-that afteer going through a huge mesh filter right after the pump and another mesh filter before the carb.
I bought a Areomotive high flow fuel filter with a PAPER element and installed before the fuel pump-problem solved. Looking back I chould've just got the new tank with no internal rust to worry about.
I like the sump on a factory tank since mine is street driven I can still fill up in the factory location and did'nt have to remodel the interior to run a cell. If you decide to use the sump, learn from my mistakes so you can run problem free-these little demons always bit me at the worst time-like going upto staging!!
