Need some popup headlight help

My drivers side headlight goes up just fine but won't go down with the switch. All I have to do is nudge the manual **** and it quickly spins and goes down. Is this likely just a lubrication issue and if so how far apart do these motors come to get at whatever needs to be lubricated?

Before I start tearing things apart senslessly I figured I'd ask

I believe the 85 is the older (3 relay) system. The symptoms sound like a high torque switch (HTS) is wearing out or dirty motor brushes. Either way, it is much easier to remove the whole headlight assembly as one piece, there are only 4 bolts. After you have the assembly out you can remove the access cover to inspect clean the HTS and brushes without having to disassemble the entire motor housing.
Here a couple of threads relating to this.
