Where can I get a spoiler for an 88 GTA?

I have an 88 GTA Trans Am and it still has the stock rubber spoiler on it. The paint is cracking on it. Does anybody know where I can order or buy one that isn't rubber? I plan on getting the whole car repainted perhaps next year. Thanks for any info! Matt

I don't know about GTAuto...I heard there were some problems. They are not up top anymore. I would steer clear of them...Try Hawks!

From everything I've been told about that rubber spoiler, it sucks to have it repainted. Even the guy at Maaco didn't want to paint it. He said it would be all cracked up again in no time. Why GM made a spoiler out of rubber is beyond me. Matt

Well you have to realize the paint Maaco uses. Yes it will crack. Honestly I doubt they use any flex agents...I would give repainting a shot. I would think it would ahve to be totally stripped back down to the rubber and reprimed. The painting should be done with a ton of flex agent. If done right, it should last as long as teh factory paint did, if not better, I would hope. Eventually it will probably crack again, but I would think it would last quite a while. I would check with some real body shops!

If you stripped one to the bare rubber, and filled any cracks with bumper cover filler (like Fusor/Lord Products), then painted it and used plenty of flex agent, it might last for a while, but no longer than they did when new. You might get a couple years out of it. I'd still recommend one of the fiberglass repros though.

Chances of finding a used one are pretty slim...they've only been around for a couple years.
