:hail:
I'm actually looking into getting mine done in about a month. Still not sure what the legal limit is here though, so I have some research to do. I'd love to get limo tint though.

I have had tint on my windows for 3 years now and no problems. They were a little hard to keep clean until these micro-fibre cloths came out. Now, much easier and a really good job when it comes to clean time. And it doesnt harm the tint.

If you want to know what the law is in your area, go to http://www.iwfa.com/iwfa/Consumer_Info/auto.html and click for either US or Canadian laws. Hope this helps anyone who's considering tinting the legal way.

i've got double 5% on the rear and sides in titanium....it lightens up at night so i can see.

I also have double limo.... you can get the idea of the opaqness from this pic:
I'm going to do 5% or double 5% on my side windows and leave the 20% on teh back. what does everybody think that would look like? I'm want to do that cause of all the late night racing I do, I'd like to be able to see out the back.
and your tint for $160 is an awesome deal man!! I got a quote for 5% all around and it was like $250 was the cheapest I could find. so I say you got a good deal.

Only tint that bubbles is those cheap *** ones u can pick up at an auto store and put it on yourself.
Kandied91z whats this titanium tint your're talking about, what exactly does it do and where can i get it and how much does it cost, sorry for all the questions, but u made me think, lol
there are a few names for it but simply put there is an actual micro thin layer of titanium that alters the perception when direct light hits it.
much how home window tinting works in some cases.
i paid 260 for it.....
i have had my car tinted 4 times in the last 5 years because shops either didn't know what they were doing or the tint itself was plain garbage.
this stuff has lasted almost 2 years now with no problems and at night it lightens to what a 20% would be, still really dark but much nicer than trying to drive with double 5% at night.

Thanks Kandied, thats probably the nicest third gen i have ever seen, good work and very tasteful mods, i really like the chrome 91-92 wheels a lot, everything comes together very nicely!:hail:
had to sell them to fit the larger brakes....once you go larger than 12" 1-le it becomes very difficult to make stock rims work.
so yeah....i liked them. but i love my new stuff so i can't complain.

so are you saying that you have to stay with the tint thats on there or you hurt the defroster for sure because i have crappy tint on my defroster. Is there any way to take it off with out damage?????????????
you won't hurt it unless you damage the defroster...........this is why you take it off yourself rather than having someone else do it for you.
don't always believe what you hear.
it is a major pita, but it can be done and isn't to difficult.....just time consuming.

search the net for taking tint off with ammonia. Ammonia loosens the glue on the tint and allows you to just strip it off in big sheets - no hacking at it with a razor. But it takes a few hours to do the magic trick.....and you MUST wear nose protection if you want to live very long.
If you want more detail - I'll give it. But there's a site I found when I was doing mine that was more than helpful.

i usually start at the top since very rarely do they stick well with those little circles up there. and work my way down, that or if you can get under an edge with a blade and then peel away...
best is to work in hot temperatures as it will come off in larger pieces. i use a wax & greese remover....some goo gone will work well too. or you can try 3m adhesive remover as well.
just soak well and pull, the worst part is getting the glass perfectly clean; if you don't clean it well the glue residue will blur the new tint and make it look really bad.
good luck, just have patience and it will work.

alright....just to outdo Kandied I'm going to write up a huge reply
Things you'll need:
Ammonia in a spray bottle
Black plastic trash bags (the bigger the better)
some tape
Take the trash bags and tape....pretty much act like you're putting tint on the car. This can be done by cutting the black trash bags down the seams to make them cover more area - and using the tape around the edges. Now you should leave one side of the hatch untaped. Take your ammonia bottle and spray the tint down. Get it REAL wet. now take the black trash bag you've "tinted' your windows with and press onto the now-soaked glass. Tape off the last side of the hatch glass.
Park in the sun for an hour. The more direct sunlight you get the better. Give it enough time.....you know.....eat some lunch and watch tv and go back out. Now take the trash bags off and put on some gloves. you can use a razor to get it started (but I didn't - just found a loose end). Now just get a little bit of the tint to start coming off....then pull with even pressure and you can get it all off in big sheets. No hacking involved.
The last step is to let the car air out for a few hours. The ammonia smell will go away if you just leave it outside with the windows down for a few hours.
