Photoshop ???

I just installed photoshop, and an going crazy trying to figure out how to cut something from a pic.

I can do it with my eyes closed in the other photo editing program that I have.

Can someone just make my life easier and tell me how to do it?

I was playing around with the magic wand, and the lasso, I feel like i'm close to getting it, but I just had to walk away.

Thanx guys!

Oh, and after I choose the lasso or any tool for that matter, how do I get rid of it so i can pick up a different tool?. This is so different from the one i'm accustomed to. I'm sure I'll have more questions as i try to figure this all out.

What you dont have a tool kit there with all those little buttons to click on for different brushs and tools? Try going under view or window to check the ones you need.

>here is a good tip on the lasso. Hold down shift. Dont let go! now start to outline your pic. Once you have that and if you notice that there were some spots close to the edge of the pic that you missed you can just go over it a again with the lasso. Now my holding shift it wont delete you other selection it just adds to the outlines. Now let go of shift. To delete sections that you might of outlined too far hold down alt and circle those parts.

>to copy what you selected hold ctrl and press C
>to paste what you copied hold ctrl and press V

>it is good to zoom in real close when you are making a outline of your pic.

>with any tool selected and lets say your zoomed in real far and need to see more of the page. Hold down the space bar, now you see the hand. Grab the page and drag it around. This is good for outlines

>did that outline take a long time? Well save it! select the arror, right click and chose save selection. Later you can right click and pick load selection.

>more tips
>short cut keys are handy

shift=select more
alt=select less
Z=Zoom
B=brush
L=lasso
Space=hand (used for draging)

Put your cursor over the tool to find the short cut letter

>any other questions PM me and I'll see what I can do. Of course you know PM is up there in user pc
Or just post it here.

K here is how to create a pic of your car with the background of your choice.

1. file open (open the background pic)

2. file open (open the pic of you car)

3.Now we want to outline your car using the lasso tool
>select the lasso from clicking it on your tool box
>or press "L" for lasso

4.now select the magnifying glass
>its in the tool box
>or you can press "Z" for zoom
>now zoom in to the a corner of you car so that you can
see the line easily

5.select your lasso tool again
>select the lasso from clicking it on your tool box
>or press "L" for lasso

6.holding down shift draw a line on the outside of you car begining to trace the outside
>Yeah you run out of page to outline the car this is why
you are holding shift
>now when you outline as far as you can keep tracing and circle back to the point in where you started traceing. .
>touch make the two points touch, begining to end and you have a circle
>By making a complete circle it will select that part of you car
>let go of shift

7. now you need more page to view the other side of the car to outline the rest right ?
>hold down space and the cursor turns into a hand
>click and hold the page
>pull it over so that you can see more of the car to outline more
>let go of space

8.now that you see more of the car you want to hold down shift again.
>repeat step # 6 till you outline the whole car
>if you outlined part that you didnt want to outline like part of the road..... no problem hold down alt (when the lasso is selected) and circle the part that you dont want selected

9.now that you have the whole car outlined with the lasso still selected do this
>right click the selected part, in the middle of your whole outline and pick save selection
>this is important cause you may want to go back and right click and reload that selection so you dont have to highlight that again

10.Now its time to copy what you just selected
>easy hold ctrl and press "C"
>it should appear to do nothing but it copied the selection

11.click file and save as that photo
>dont change the type of file it saves as here just save it as soemthing like "photochop copy of car"

TO be continued...........

1. Now click on your background image and then we want to paste what you just copied
>hold ctrl and press "V"
>this will paste what you copied on the background

2.to big to small? well try this
>select the arrow tool or they call it the move tool
>you can also press "V" to get this tool
>right click on the car
>go to free transform
>put your cursor on the one of the corners where those boxs are
>you can drag these to resize the image
>if you drag the middle of the image it will posistion the car where you want.

any questions just ask....

Again thanx for all the tips!
