ACCIDENT! :( Looking for a new body or car.

Well, add another chalk mark to the list of 3rd genners in an accident. It absolutely sucks being in this position, since the car was my daily driver, and now I'm in search of a new one. If anyone has or knows someone that has an 82-87 LG4 or L69 Camaro for sale, please point them in my direction. 700R4 tranny preffered, but I need a car, so manual is fine, too. My long term goals are to do a ZZ4 conversion, which is why I'm looking for these specific cars. My current car has an LG4, so the same engine would be great, too. Who doesn't love to have a parts car for their new one? Any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

damn man, sorry to have to read that.....

you might try picking up an auto trader magazine in your local area.....

i've looked at a few recently, and have found a bunch of thirdgens for sale in my area, within a few hundred miles radius.

word of mouth in your area is also a good thing to try.

how bad was your car messed up? is insurance totalling it?

that's something that keeps running through my mind as i'm slowly getting ready to start the winter work on my car...

i'm going to keep this open, as long as we stay on topic.

Fortunately, the accident wasn't really anyone's fault; though technically it was mine. I was turning left out of a parking lot, and neither one of us could see each other. It was raining and he slid into me. My left fender, front left suspension, and tie rod are all wrecked. The front of the frame got pushed to the right, which bent the right fender, wrecked the radiator mounts, damaged the front bumper, and bent the fan blades. When I got it home, the coolant overflow tank was boiling, so I'm guessing either the radiator got broke or the fan isn't working. I'm saying this is fortunate because we're not going through insurance. The other guy has some minor cosmetic damage which I have to pay for. I really have next to no money to deal with this, so it really couldn't have come at a worse time. I'll get a quote from Maaco and Firestone to fix the frame and whatever needs immediate attention, but I'm sure it's gonna be a lot. This really depresses me...

So are you selling the engine/trans? Or the whole car? Or just swapping that stuff into a new body?

I'm (hopefully) going to swap whatever I can into the new car I get. The unused trans, if it's also a 700R4, I'm going to rebuild with the parts from the ZZ4 conversion kit. When that's all done, I'll part out the other engine and trans.

best of luck with whatever you do.

i'm terrified that once i get my car finished, something will come along and cause something bad to happen to it.

yeah do yourself a favor from now on... double check both ways before turning left. heh

I think I'm going to try to fix the car. The frame isn't bent too much and Maaco charges about 200 for straightening. I'll try to bang out the fenders myself. Everything else is gonna be a bit of a pain... suspension, steering and the radiator all have to be worked on.

Anyone feel like hooking up and helping me out? I haven't done much mechanical work on my own and would like to save as much money as I can. PM me, email me at hiimcayse@yahoo.com, or IM me at HiimCaysE. You guys are great on this board and it'd be cool to meet some of you and get myself back on the road.

There's a camaro in the parking lot next to the Wallington Lanes that was for sale at one point. I'm not really sure if it is still for sale, I'll check on the way home today, but aside from the decals on that I don't like it didn't look like it had any body damage.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been around lately. I've been staying up at my friend's house in Oakland so I can get to work. Thanks for all the leads, I'll keep them in mind. I'm going to check out an 86 Camaro SSC down by Trenton tomorrow (hopefully I get a ride). LG4, 700R4, 138k, a few problems on it, but I think I can work with them. Distributor may be screwy, exhaust leak, trans slips a bit, fan doesn't come on when the engine is hot. It has ttops, which he says don't leak. I forgot to ask about the intake, but I think it's carbed. All in all I am cautiously hopeful.

Alright.. I got myself an 86 Camaro SC with ttops today. It runs just about the same as my previous one, if not worse. LOL. That's alright, now I can start work on the previous engine and get ready to swap. Twiz, good luck with the LS1... that's gonna be a sick *** ride (as if it wasn't already). Which reminds me... did I see you drive past my house tonight? It was dark out... but I thought I saw a hint of red and a cowl hooded camaro cruise by with the exhaust rumbling.

Anyone know where I should start with rebuilding my LG4?

i live on semel, right by BJ's pub. like across the street practically. yeah your exhaust wasn't loud, just a real nice rumble. I was pulling out of my driveway with a buddy of mine when you passed. he was like, "damn that car's nice." I turned and looked and was like "****, that's twizted!"

Jay: I'll let you know about the speakers when I take them out, shouldn't be a problem.

Chuck: stop in some time if you feel like it. I'm usually chillin at home around that time. I'm on the left side before the first stop sign, past the high school. #136 front door. You should see two Camaros in the driveway. I gotta see your ride.
