My original post is getting bogged down with pics and I wanted to post more, so I decided to start a new thread. This one is of my intermediate "pipe", which also shows the crossover. It is 3-1/2" in diameter.

Over the axle we go>>> Notice the pair of flanges with bolts? Those are slip-fit joints so I can drop the entire rear section, if necessary (such as in removing the fuel tank):

 

and through the tightest spot. This is where most shops won't attempt to install a pair of 2-1/2" pipes:

and around we go to the mufflers.

I've had this system now for over one month, enough time for it to "settle". No vibrations yet!!

I got the idea from the 2000 Berger SS. It uses a pair chambered mufflers. However, the difference is that it uses a single 3-inch over-the-axle pipe that splits into a pair of 2-1/2 inch pipes, each leading to a muffler. My idea was simply keep each pipe separate and join each one via a pair of pipes to the back end of each cat. Simple.

You're absolutely right about the website. It has not been updated in over two years and is sorely needing to be. Most of the "new" information has been collected and written, along with new pics. All I'm lacking now are some exterior shots of the car. My goal is to have it completed by the end of the year.

i hate to post tis again cause i know its been answered but, ...was that a setup by anyone in particular or did you make it yourself??? if you didnt make it, who did? what headers do you have on it?

 

The setup is custom. It starts with 1-3/4" SLP headers (Jet Hot coated), through a pair of SLP pipes to dual Catco converters in the stock locations. From there, you've seen the pics in this post.

I bought all the mandrel bends from Summit (Hooker) and Jegs (Dynomax) to have the system built by a local dude. Hope this answers your questions.

So many want to hear what this system sounds like. I just filmed a short audio / video clip where you can hear the exhaust. I will create a new post with more info. I'll call it, "Audio of my true dual stock routed over-the-axle setup!"

It sounds awesome. I think when I redo my exhaust I'm putting chambered mufflers on, but it will be a hard decision, I love my hookers.

They're chambered mufflers from Stainless Steel Works (I think that's the company's name).

The "default" length is 24-inches. Mine were made 22-inches long.

Don't misunderstand 88aziroc. He's a local friend of mine and he currently has a stock system with a Magnaflow muffler. He's planning on replacing the whole system including the Magnaflow with duals, similar to my setup.

I also had a Magnaflow before replacing it with my current setup. On my car, it was loud even at idle. On 88aziroc's 350 TPI, it was not nearly as loud. His engine is almost stock. Also, currently have a Magnaflow on my 305 TPI convertible. The engine is stock and the exhaust sounds almost identical to 88aziroc's.

I can only conclude that the decibel level, at least with the Magnaflow, is dependant on engine modifications.

absolutely willing to travel, or ship, might be a while since I'm working on an LS-1 swap at the moment, which will require a fully custom exhaust, so someone who is skilled at custom exhaust setups.
