Burning Blue only under WOT

Okay here is the story. First night I get the car running, all is fine, pulls great. Well I think I hear a rocker knocking, so I adjust the rockers. A Fuse blew, and didnt figure it out that day, so never got to test drive it. Next morning, I drive it to work, and the entire time its burning oil once operating temp is meant. Under any acceleration or just running in general it was burning blue. Later that night, adjust valves, make sure all is just 1/4 turn aftere knocking is gone. Now it only smokes under WOT.

Reasons I think it could be but was told it isnt.

1. Valve lash (Now Im told their are not related, but when all i did was adjust valve lash, and it only burns oil under WOT, makes me wonder)

2. There is about 3/4-1 full quart of extra oil. I put 5 quarts in oil change and somehow I guess it doesnt take this much. Do you think if I go back down a quart it will fix this?

Any other suggestions? I think I need a compression checker to check piston rings correct ? Any recommendations on which one, if this is the case. Thanks a bunch guys, car runs great besides this, and is lots of fun to drive.
