Loud tick or knock from rear of car.

Loud tick or knock from rear of car. Sounds like a midget is under my car with a hammer and every 2 sec he hits the frame with a hammer. But its doesn't happen all the time. It will even do it 2-3 times after the car is shut off. Car doesn't need to be moving.

I have recently went to a straight shot glass pack. I have checked my clearances and everything looks fine. Its also doesn't do it every time I drive it. But when it does start it. it does it like clock work and is some what loud.

I stuck it up on ramps the other day and the sucker would not do it. Then the next day off the ramps it did but I could not see anything.

I wondered if maybe my heat shield is popping or maybe my fuel line is smacking the frame with fuel pump surges?

I don't know but its strange. I swear someone is under there with a hammer.

and yes before anyone ask its a single tip car but it looks nice out the left side. It really matches the body line and I can rattle the windows of slow people in the left lane as I pass them in the right.

I would say it sound similar to an AC clickin on n off. Though I have no AC in my trunk. I did it today and I was able to look but not pin point the source.

Jsut as a WAG but it could be thermal expansion and contraction from or along the exaust causing the metallic clicking type noise.

Well water quenching has fix things up. I no longer hear loud pop n pings while driving. Only when the car is shut off you just hear the normal sounding tings n such but real soft and low.

Before even after the car was off I could hear it 20' away in the house.

But the water trick has been working. Its nice to just drive around and listen to my exhaust. Its real nice. They say it can't be done but a V6 can sound like an 8. No winny sound even all the way up to 5000rpm, the down shifts are mean and low with that nice grumble.

If you want your 6 to sound like an 8 with out fancy resonators a cherry bomb is the way to go.

Trust me.
