3.42 gears-speedo correction
Now I know this topic comes up a lot, and don't worry, I've already searched and I found the answers to most of the questions I had, except for one:
When changing the speedometer drive/driven gears, how do you know if you need a "sleeve" or an "offset housing"? I've seen both of these things mentioned in past posts and the FAQs, but no one seems to clarify exactly what they are, or when you need them. Can anyone enlighten me?
In case anyone is interested, I'm going from the stock 2.73s to 3.42s. I'm running P235/55R-16 tires, so I'm using a gray 15-tooth drive gear and a 41-tooth driven gear.

on your 91, all thats needed is the gears to do the swap. the only extra parts you will need are the o-ring for the tailshaft housing, and the o-ring for the speedo gear housing.

I know this is old but exactly how do you remove the gear on the shaft? I bought a new tranny and it came with a metal one that has straight teeth on the worm gear and I have the new plastic gears to install. I don't know how to remove the metal gear or the plastic gear on my other tranny. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is what I used as a guide for swapping the gears: http://sethirdgen.org/vss.htm
