Question about adding TPI to a Fastburn 385
I have a Fastburn 385 that isn't being used so I've decided to throw it in my '87 GTA. I want to keep the TPI and have been reading the forums a good bit over the past week or so trying to get my ducks in a row. I need to know if I am leaving anything out of the equation. I have (or will have by swap time)
1) The new motor
2) The TPI from the L98
3) SDPC intake manifold
4) 22lb injectors
5) AFPR
6) a reprogrammed prom for the final combination
Is the anything I am leaving out? Likewise, if anyone has any advice, please feel free to add.
Thanks in advance,

I'd say 24 lb injectors would be warranted.
What do you have for runners, TB, and exhaust?

The intake ports on the Fastburn heads are considerably larger than the facing ports on the intake.
I spent a good deal of time opening up the intake to match the head port opening. Ported all the way back up the manifold to the runners.
The runners side of the intake was opened up to match my AS&M runners.
Also spent a good deal of time working on the injector bosses of the SDPC intake.
I personally don't think 22 lb injectors will be enough.
I've sent my Fastburns to the machine shop to have larger springs installed and 3-angle valve job. The engine will probably be put together some time this summer.
I have a ZZX cam to go with my set-up (400 bored .040).
You WILL run into a problem with headers.
I have 1-3/4" SLPs and they block a fair portion of the exhaust port opening (D-shaped).
I probably will try to slot my header bolt openings to allow the headers to be "slid-up" the heads to try and match the exhaust port opening.
(To those who say I'm wasting bunches of power keeping a TPI type intake---I agree---but I love the look of the TPI and I can tell folks it is just a 305 with a bad vacuum leak!)

thats some fuzzy logic their, but if you're dead-set on a tpi go ahead. I don't think people will believe that any old 305 had aluminum heads on it but okay, anyone dumb enough to think its a stock 305 with aluminum heads(saying they looked under the hood) deserves to lose a race or two.
