clutch/slave clyinder assembly for T-56? which one

I have a 95 T-56 that is going into a 91z28 and need to know which clutch/slave cylinder accuating assembly I need to get. the dealer list two different ones but doesnt say how to tell which one you need. Does the year of the tranny have anything to do with it? also where can I get the pivot that goes in the transmisson for the release fork. The dealer says I have to but the whole tranny to get it.

Hi, illegalz28!

Use the '93 - '94 LT1 hydraulic clutch master/slave cylinder when installing T-56 into 3rd gen. F-body.

The pivot and bolt which hold the T-56 clutch release fork ARE available through GM, but part number isn't easily found in their computer system, so most dealers will tell you that. You might try Sallee Chevrolet - they shipped us one last year, but I didn't make note of part number. Sorry.

Happy Motoring,

Harry

Hi, illegalz28!

We're swapping production 4th gen. T-56 into my son's '89 Camaro and I'm installing an "aftermarket" T-56 in my '57 Chevy. Got some info and part numbers for you......

When adapting T-56 production tranny from 4th gen. to 3rd gen. Camaro, some parts simply bolt right on, while others need "slight adjustments" to work and some (tranny crossmember is an example) have to be fabricated from scratch or heavily modified. We're using Skulte crossmember. Spohn also has a crossmember. One problem we'll have to solve is that the 4th gen. tranny has no provision for connecting our '89 mechanical speedo cable. We'll probably have to adapt an electronic speedo. The hydraulic clutch linkage falls into the "it's almost a bolt-on, but you'll need to make slight adjustments" catagory. What I mean by "slight adjustments" is that you may have to drill a new hole or two in firewall or work with rod that connects to clutch pedal to get every thing right. We ordered our parts from Sallee Chevrolet. We haven't finished our T-56 installation, so I can't give you all details regarding hydraulic clutch hookup yet. I'm looking through our receipts - here are some part numbers.....

12557509 - hydraulic clutch linkage ('93-'94 LT1)

14061685 - pilot bearing ('93-up LT1)

10125379 - flywheel ('93-up LT1)

F039020, CF - Center Force dual friction clutch (includes throwout bearing) - heavy duty clutch to replace factory pull style in 4th gen. LT1

12523313 and 12524506 - Check out these numbers with your Chevy dealer - I believe one of them is for the pivot and bolt which hold the T-56 clutch release fork

12528916 - oil pan - '87-up 305/350 V8 Camaro with 1-piece rear main seal (we are using '96-up Vortec truck engine with CompCams roller cam - had to replace oil pan, as sump on truck pan extended 1" too far forward to clear SLP or factory exhaust Y-pipe) < Note> This pan also works in '55-'57 Chevy with '87-up engine

There is also a company called Weir Hot Rod Products - they make a custom bellhousing to fit production LT1 style T-56 behind Chevy engine using older push style clutch and flywheel. I couldn't find a web site for them, but their phone number is (707) 747-0513 or (800) 633-9869. They use a neat internal hydraulic throwout bearing like the one used on Chevy trucks, LS1 Camaros and Dodge Vipers.

Here are some helpful web links regarding 4th gen. T-56 and "aftermarket" T-56 trannys into 2nd and 3rd gen. Camaros......
