Wanted Governor Springs left over from Kit

i am looking for some heavy governor springs someone might have left over from a governor kit, all i need is the heavy spring(s) trying to adjust my part throttle 700r4 shifts my WOT shifts are where i want them and i have the heaviest factory springs i can find (white) almost there but need a little heavier as part throttle shifts still a little to high

i know someone has some laying in their tool box left over they do not need.

i know the car is an El Camino crashed my IROC so put that drive train in the Elco, well my old girl friend (X) crashed my IROC she is gone now...

please anyone
Thanks

Re: Wanted Governor Springs left over from Kit

just disassemble your governor, weld a bead on each weight, reassemble, and test. Add another bead if necessary. There's plenty of space in there.
I'm usually doing the opposite, drilling weights to raise shift points.
Or you can get a used stock governor from a 6.2L diesel, those shifted even lower than a 4200 LG4 governor. Mine was 3800.

Re: Wanted Governor Springs left over from Kit

Thank You VERY much for the reply

sorry let me be a little more clear, i have pulled the governor 5 times now easy to do except i have to drop the rear of the trans to do so.

i have timed the inner weights down to 11.5 grams each and got my WOT shifts up to 5200-5300 rpm's just leaving it in drive but my part throttle shifts slowly cheeped up as well so i pulled the governor again i had the stock light spring on one weight and a stock heavier spring on the other weight. so i took a stock heavy spring out of another governor and replaced my light spring with the spare heavier spring witch seems to be white in color anyway with the second factory heavy spring it brought my part throttle down a little it will now shift into 4th about 45 mph instead of 52 mph

i would like it to shift part throttle a little lower yet but i do not have access to a heavier spring than the factory white spring i was thinking someone has done this with a kit and might have some springs that are heavier than the factory white spring laying in their tool box that they did not need. hate to buy a kit just for one spring.

but maybe a diesel spring might be heavier than what i have never thought of that so i will go to the wrecking yard and see what i can find..

i have read a lot of post about this subject i can confirm the inner weights control the WOT the springs control the part throttle shifts and the outer weights deal with the 1-2 shift at part throttle

anyone have some left over springs from a kit they do not need?
again thank you very much for taking the time to reply and maybe this will help someone dealing with this..
